When we ask why dance, both students and educators respond "Why not? -and adds that it is FUN, gives joy both to ourselves and others. In addition, it is nice to express the feelings we have when we dance. And the bonus is that it is also good training, and gives you increased body awareness and body control! ”
The aim of the TILT project is to reach as many as possible with dance throughout Norway, and in 2018 the project was in Central Norway and Oslo! Panta Rei Dance Theatre collaborated with DansiT – dance art in Trondheim, Dansens Hus and Teatret Vårt in Molde and danced throughout the autumn.
TILT is a dance project over six years (2015-2020) supported by the Sparebankstiftelsen DNB. The goal is to get large parts of the country to dance. Panta Rei Dance Theater leads TILT and collaborates with regional theaters and other major performing arts institutions over the project period. We create a new production for touring every year. The tours are followed by tailor-made dance projects in each municipality and each city.
Although dance has long traditions, also here in Norway, the art form is underestimated in my opinion. We need arenas to discuss dance and art projects that allow for reflection so that more people can have a conscious relationship with dance. Silence – the performance by Panta Rei Dance Theatre, which was recently shown in Røros, and the TILT project that the company conducts in Trøndelag provides room for testing, reflection and making it possible to dive into the dance.
Dance is a community, that much is certain, so for TILT 2018 in Oslo we wanted to bring that community together in Grunerløkka and do something that was bursting with energy and a lot of fun. From professional dancers to the smallest of children (at least 500 participants in total) we built a fabulous flashmob film for the dance community shot entirely in one of the most creative areas of the city. So sit back and enjoy and tell your friends. Dance has always been a huge part of this neighbourhood and here, writ large, is the proof.
We have talked to Anna Schmidt, who leads the group Contemporary Dance for Adults, who opened the performance of Silence in Trondheim. Here is what Anna has to say about both Silence, place-specific dance, dance in general and contemporary dance for adults.
We have talked to Molde Argentina Tango Club about what they think about dance, the TILT project that will get as many as possible in a region every year to get involved in dance and how it will be to come home to people’s private homes like in the performance Silence.
TILT flashmob is a simple dance that is being danced unannounced and as a surprise. TILT flashmob 2018 will be danced many different places during the fall. Learn the dance here!
This year Panta Rei Dance Theater collaborates with Dansens Hus in Oslo. We want to reach out to everyone who lives in the district of Grünerløkka and who may not know about the amazing dance offer that exists there. We will do many different things during TILT in Oslo:
