Program day 2 / Master class
We invite all choreographers, dancers and performers to an open master class with Bek Berger and James Batchelor. We follow up the themes from yesterday, get an insight into the Hyperspace method – and get to experience the remarkable solo towards the end of the day.
Hyperspace is a solo that presents a vision of the human body seen through the prism of cosmology, a mapping of the universe in and around it.
The solo is based on attention zones that shrink and expand during a performance. The method explores the idea of mapping space as a bodily process, and takes minimalism to a new level. Batchelor proves with this solo that even the slightest movement can be virtuoso. The hyperspace method has been tested in theatres’ of various shapes and sizes across Europe and Australia, as well as non-theatrical and outdoor venues.
James and Bek will share their approach to “site-responsive” work this day. Using James’ movement material from Hyperspace as a starting point, the master class will provide the participants with useful tools that can be used in the development of their own projects.
James and Beck are two artists you should definitely get acquainted with!
Date: Saturday, May 28th
Time: 11: 00-15: 00
