Get to know the eight fantastic talents that have been selected for our talent program, TILT Grow 2020.

TILT Grow is this year tailored for Viken and offers 8 dancers, all of whom will be co-creative performers in a solo prepared by a renowned national or international choreographer.

These eight great dance artists are participating in TILT Grow 2020:

Cesilie Kverneland is a dance artist based in Stavanger. She graduated from the University of Stavanger with a vocational teacher education in dance and is further educated from the Peridance Capezio Dance Theater in New York City. Cesilie has also studied choreography at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles and received a Master of Arts in Contemporary Dance from the London Contemporary Dance School.
Since 2016, she has worked with musician John Derek Bishop and author Gunnar Roalkvam on the project “Out in a place” which is a series of place-specific performances with music, dance and text in outdoor space. She works freelance as a choreographer and as a dancer for James Cousins ​​(UK), Roskva Yasmin Andersen (NO) and Inger Cecilie Bertràn de Lis (NO) and Pia Myrvold (FR / NO).

David Forsberg (born 1996) is a dance artist from Falun, Sweden. He is a graduate of two folk high schools, one year at Kävesta folk high school in Örebro and two years in “New education for contemporary dance” (Härnösand Folk High School). After two years at Härnösand Folk High School, David was offered a trainee contract as a dancer at Norrdan’s dance company. During the year at Norrdans, he worked with international and national choreographers such as Martin Forsberg, Jose Agudo, Mari Carrasco, Peter Svenzon, Viktor Konvalinka and was involved in a film project with the award-winning choreographer Fabio Liberti.
In 2019, David moved to Oslo to work with Nagelhus Schia Productions in their “Apprentice mentorship program” (AMP). At the end of 2019, he performed with the solo “What’s Next”, which premiered at Stockholm City Theater, and was also involved in a production in Spain with choreographer Fabian Thome.
David looks forward to collaborating with Panta Rei Dance Theater to become better acquainted with the Norwegian dance culture.

Edith Strand Askeland (born 1998) is a professional dancer born and raised in Lørenskog. This spring, she graduated from the Oslo Academy of the Arts with a bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance. She has previously been part of the youth company På tå hev (2016-17) at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, at the same time as she attended the Dance Line Lillestrøm upper secondary school (2014-17).
Through both education and other projects, Edith has worked with a wide range of choreographers and dance artists, who have helped shape her into the dancer she is today. What interests Edith is to create and be a part of dance art that inspires change and innovation in both spectators and performers. The dance’s ability to communicate to the whole person is something she appreciates herself and looks forward to sharing in through the work of TILT Grow.

Hanne Svenning (1993) comes from Bærum and has her education from Fagerborg Videregående Skole and Kunsthøgskolen in Oslo.
Since finishing school, she has worked freelance based in Oslo with choreographers such as Elle Sofe Henriksen, Simone Grøtte, Hallgrim Hansegård and Panta Rei Dance Theater.
Since the spring of 2019, she has been associated with Nagelhus Schia Productions where she has made pieces of and worked with choreographers such as Damien Jalet, Erna Ómarsdóttir, Hege Haagenrud, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Daniel Proietto, Guro Nagelhus Schia and Vebjørn Sundby, Kristin Hjort Inao and Melanie Lane .
Hanne has toured extensively nationally and made guest appearances internationally.

Live Skullerud completed his bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance at the University of Stavanger in 2018 and now works freelance as a creative and performing dance artist based in Fredrikstad and Stavanger. Live dances for the London / Stavanger-based dance company Hagit Yakira Dance, in addition to participating in several stand-alone productions and creating their own projects. Live engages in creating and performing dance art with a desire to convey dance to a wide audience, and is in its own work concerned with creating a playful, physical expression in the borderland between the personal and the universal, based on ideas of identity and human interaction.
In 2020, Live is the “sprout of the year” in the mentor program SPIRE, a collaboration between Tou Scene and RAS – Regional Arena for Contemporary Dance in Stavanger.

Malene Juliussen is a 25 year old contemporary dancer from Bergen. She graduated from Artez University of the Arts in the Netherlands, with a bachelor’s degree with a focus on performing and creative contemporary dance. Through work with choreographers such as Cecilia Moisio, Hendrik Aerts and Jan Martens, she has developed an interest in absurdity and humor, which her own creations often reflect.

Malene spent the last year of his education as an apprentice in the company Norrdans in Sweden. Here she worked with national and international dance artists and choreographers and had the opportunity to tour performances in large parts of the country. The privileged experience of sharing dance with small villages and people with little knowledge of the art form confirmed her passion for this type of sharing, something she looks forward to continuing with together with the Panta Rei Dance Theater and the TILT project. Over the past year, Malene has worked as a freelance dance artist in various projects around Europe, while she has continued to develop her own artistic choreographic practice.

Ole Kristian Tangen from Lillestrøm and is a graduate of Spin Off Preliminary Studies in Dance and the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo. After graduating, he got a job in the company IT DANSA under artistic director, Catherine Allard, where he made pieces by choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Alexander Ekman, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jiří Kylián, Montse Sánchez / Ramón Baez, Raphael Bonachela, Crystal Pite and Ina Christel Johannessen. Tangen has since 2015 worked with choreographer Ina Christel Johannessen in the company zero visibility corp., And with Hege Haagenrud in Hege Haagenrud Productions since ’18.
He founded the company TangenBenzal together with colleague Jesús Benzal, and they have won several awards for their choreographic work, including; Dance Award from the Theater Institute in ’17. Ole Kristian has also choreographed commissioned works for companies in Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Stine Solvang is a 24 year old dance artist from Ski / Oslo. After studying dance at Ski High School, Stine moved to Leeds, England, where she earned her bachelor’s degree from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (2014-2017). Since 2017, she has been a freelancer based in Oslo and participated in projects such as “DISFUNC” by Carl Aquilizan, R&D with Tendai Malvine Makurumbandi and “Among Us” by Maria Kristina Klungnes Berg. In 2019, Stine participated in the “NOD International Contemporary Dance Program” in Turin, Italy, as a scholarship student. As a dance artist, she is playful, expressive and versatile with a passion for improvisation. She is looking forward to spreading the joy of dance and creating interest and curiosity for the art of dance in Nordre Follo and Viken in 2020.
